THE LAUNCHING OF THE MyCC REPORT:
MARKET REVIEW UNDER THE COMPETITION ACT 2010 FOR SELECTED TRANSPORTATION SECTORS

The Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) will be officially launched the Market Review under the Competition 2010 for Selected Transportation Sectors (Port Logistics Ecosystem and Motor Vehicle Warranty). The transportation sector is one of the priority sectors of the MyCC as it is vital to rejuvenate the Malaysian economic performance to realize the vision of becoming a developed nation to enable the businesses will be able to competitively and raise their standards to pave the way for the next stage of Malaysia’s market evolution.

The Market Review under the Competition Act 2010 for Selected Transportation Sectors (Port Logistics Ecosystem and Motor Vehicles Warranty) takes a deep dive into the market behaviour, gaining an in-depth understanding of the market structure, identify any possible competition concerns and review any regulations and policy that may impede competition in the sub-sectors studied. The finding of the Market Review will lay the policy thrusts to address the competition concerns and provides an overarching strategy to enhance the sector's competitiveness to accelerate economic growth that is sustainable and inclusive while reducing the regulatory barrier in the sub-sectors studied.

Hence, the launch of the Market Review will be a part of MyCC ongoing efforts to promotes a healthy market environment in the transportation sector, which would lead to reduced prices, healthy competition levels, and more innovative solutions in the industry that will drive economic growth and support the well-being of the rakyat.

The event will be officiated by the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

OECD COMPETITION ASSESSMENT REVIEW: LOGISTICS SECTOR IN MALAYSIA AND
OECD COMPETITIVE NEUTRALITY REVIEWS: SMALL-PACKAGE DELIVERY SERVICES IN MALAYSIA

The Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) in collaboration with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will officially launched two (2) OECD reports; the OECD Competition Assessment Reviews: Logistics Sector in Malaysia and the OECD Competitive Neutrality Reviews: Small-Package Delivery Services in Malaysia.

The OECD in close co-operation with the ASEAN Secretariat and the MyCC has carried out independent assessments as part of the Fostering Competition in ASEAN project as an initiative to identify and review regulatory barriers in Malaysia that may hinder the efficient functioning of the markets of logistics and small-package delivery services. The results of the assessments can help to foster competition and promote a level playing field for businesses in both markets.

Apart from launching the reports, the MyCC will also be organizing a panel discussion titled "Discussion on Takeaways from the OECD Reports and the Market Review on Malaysia Transportation Sector”. This panel discussion aims to discuss on key takeaways from the OECD reports and the Market Review under the Competition Act 2010 for Selected Transportation Sectors in Malaysia (Port Logistics Ecosystem and Motor Vehicle Warranty) and commonalities between the reports.

The event will be officiated by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, YBhg. Datuk Seri Hj. Hasnol Zam Zam bin Hj. Ahmad.
