PUBLIC CONSULTATION FOR MARKET REVIEW ON FOOD SECTOR UNDER THE COMPETITION ACT 2010

The Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) is a statutory body established under the Competition Commission Act 2010 (CCA 2010) to enforce the Competition Act 2010 (CA 2010). Section 11 (1) of the CA 2010 allows the MyCC on its own initiative or upon the request of the Minister to conduct a review on any market in order to determine whether any feature or combination of features of the market prevents, restricts or distorts competition in the market. At the moment, the MyCC is in the midst of concluding a Market Review on Food Sector under the Competition Act 2010. This market review aims to identify the market structure, supply chain and competition level within the sector.

Hence, the MyCC would like to welcome feedback from the stakeholders and public in relation to the draft final report of the said market review, through online public consultation for the duration of 30 days from 3 June 2019 to 3 July 2019. Any feedback and comments shall be made written to the MyCC before 5.00 pm, 3 July 2019 via email to [email protected].

Besides, the MyCC also will organize a physical public consultation session as below date and venue:

  1. Public Consultation for Government Agency (Putrajaya)
    Date: 18 June 2019 (Tuesday)
    Time: 9.00 AM – 1.00 PM
    Venue: Marriot Hotel, Putrajaya
     
  2. Public Consultation for Industry Players (Kuala Lumpur)
    Date: 20 June 2019 (Thursday)
    Time: 12.30 PM – 5.30 PM
    Venue: Seri Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
