Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was established in 1989 as a platform to discuss on mechanisms of the growing interdependence of the Asia-Pacific. Malaysia has progressively contributed to the initiatives of APEC in creating greater prosperity of the region by promoting regional economic integration.

In order to facilitate economic efficiency and market discipline as well as to discuss on the regulatory aspects of competition within the framework of the Economic Committee, the Competition Policy and Law Group (CPLG) was established in 1996. The CPLG serves as a platform for the member economies to update on the latest competition policies and laws implemented in the economy, challenges, strategies as well as the way forward to effective implementation of competition policy and law, among others.
