Tuan Surrendren Sathasivam currently serves as the Deputy Secretary General (Management) at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia, a position he has held since May 2025. He began his career in the Malaysian civil service in 1994 and brings over three decades of experience in economic planning, industrial development, and public policy through his roles at the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Prime Minister’s Department, and various key ministries.
He holds a Master’s degree in International Economics and Development Studies from Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan, and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) in Business Administration from the University of Malaya. He is also a graduate of the Diploma in Public Management from the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN).
Tuan Surrendren has received multiple Excellence in Service Awards and Special Awards for his outstanding contributions. Internationally, he has represented Malaysia in various high-level forums including those by the OECD, UNCTAD, WTO, and WIPO, and actively participates in global initiatives on productivity and regulatory reform.
